SEPTEMBER - Bedford Swan's name in movie lights
Bedford Swan's name in movie lights
A film which goes on national release this month (September 2013) will be among those on show at the new www.bedfordfilmfestival.org
The festival features among others, Wayland's Song which was filmed in part at the Bedford Swan Hotel in 2012. The opening sequence of the film shows the main character walking along the river with the hotel clearly in the background. Other sequences were filmed in the hotel bar.
Sales Manager Andrew Keen said: "We were approached by our neighbours from across the river, Bedford College which was acting as a studio and backlot, to help out. Happily the filming was during a quiet period for the bar and so the Director Richard Jobson and his crew were able to use it all day. It was interesting to see professionals in action."
The film features some well known actors from Downton Abbey, Mistresses and more. Included on the credits is Andrew Keen from the Bedford Swan Hotel.
"I didn't expect to see my name in lights," added Andrew,
"The hotel is often featured in photos and films of the town. This summer alone it has been included in a programme about the High Street by TV Bedfordshire and another promotional film for Bedford by Future Legend Productions."
Wayland's Song will be featured in the first Bedford Film Festival and shown at The Higgins Bedford close to the hotel.
Tickets numbers are limited.
