November 2012 - Fun, Food and Beer
Traditional ales, and a host of locally produced food was on offer at the Swan Hotel’s beer and food festival at the weekend. From Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th November the hotel, in association with Taste Real Food Bedfordshire held the event which showcased all the best of everything.
July 2012 - The Torch Comes To Bedford
On Sunday 8th July, the streets were filled with spectators waiting to catch a glimpse of the torch as it passed through Bedford as part of the pre-games celebrations.
June 2012 - Afternoon Tea Your Majesty?
Bedford Swan hotel is celebrating its connections with The Queen by opening a Jubilee afternoon tea marquee.
Hotel manager Dominic Mills was delighted to discover that today’s Monarch had once been photographed waving from the front balcony of the building - the picture was taken by the Bedfordshire Times. Then, still Princess Elizabeth, the royal visitor was in the town on February 14th 1946 as part of her work with the Land Army girls organisation. Of course Her Majesty has visited Bedford since, but never again waved to the crowds from the Bedford Swan Hotel balcony.
April 2012 - Super Sausage Order from The Swan
Bedford Swan Hotel is putting local produce on the plates of diners including a whopping 1,000 sausages a week. Laid end-to-end that is nearly one kilometre of sausages a week!
The hotel has placed the bumper banger order with Summerhill Farm Shop of Cardington after matchmaking by Sue Miller of Taste Real Food. When Bedford Swan Hotel joined the Taste Real Food group it pledged support for local producers. The relationship has resulted in two food and drink fayres - including an 18th Century Beer Festival which attracted 100s of visitors.
