July 2012 - The Torch Comes To Bedford

On Sunday 8th July, the streets were filled with spectators waiting to catch a glimpse of the torch as it passed through Bedford as part of the pre-games celebrations.

Representing Bedford as a torchbearer was Barry Funnell. Barry lives in Clapham Bedfordshire and works as the CEO of the charity Word for the World. Barry was paralysed from the chest down in an accident 29 years ago.

Barry gave up a career in dentistry to go to Malawi, Africa, to do language development and has recently taken up hand cycling.
